Why use PSA blog?

Welcome to our first blog/vlog of PSA at RSD!

This is an exciting avenue for all of us to keep up with updates on what is happening inside PSA meetings and to broaden better communication medium for all of us to share. Since there are a few number of participants in PSA meetings, we are hoping that this blog will improve better communication relations and sharing resources.

We strongly welcome you to read blogs/view vlogs created by parents and staff of RSD, post your blogs by sending to authors who are executive board members of PSA, write your comments and questions and much more.

What are the benefits for PSA to blog?

• use wealth of resources that will provide you links to learn more about raising deaf children

• To reach individuals of RSD community with critical information

• to express opinions and concerns that need to be addressed by posting your blog and/or comments because asking is learning

• to keep up with activities hosted by PSA by signing up to volunteer, by reading and responding the PSA minutes, following calendar of events, viewing post-event pictures and videos and much more.

We recognize that it is healthy to discuss out in the open where we are able to share, learn and improve in any aspects when raising deaf children and better understanding of needs in deaf education.

There are particular articles and resources that you may benefit to gain better awareness about raising your deaf child(ren). It will give us parents an opportunity to participate as learners such as how to better advocate for your deaf child. For example, there are many ideas and tips on what to expect from IEP meeting. Parents can always bring up a topic that we all can read and share our feedback based on our experiences and ideas that will be helpful to another. Also we will be able to better identify the needs of RSD programs that need to be addressed.

This is supposed to be an informal yet informative blog. We are looking forward to meet you and learn about your ideas, issues or concerns that we can give support. We will be discussing about ground rules on March 29th since we want your input. We expect participants to identify themselves. We also expect disagreements but with respect and refrain from attacking a certain individual. The blogs and comments will be moderated by executive board editors.
